Versha's Journey in BR

They say there’s a story behind every picture. Surely, there’s one behind mine too. I am Versha and this is my story that recounts the time when I was experimental with my choices, without knowing the purpose of life to a happy, purposeful and determined leader I am today.

Every person is the result of the choices they make. And that’s true in my case too. Taking you through some choices I made, I completed my Bachelors in Economics from Lady Shri Ram College for Women, followed by my Masters in Economics from the Delhi School of Economics, in 2015. I started my first job as an Investment Banker in Mumbai, with a lot of excitement and pride. The ambitious girl inside me always pushed forward to achieve more. Soon, the 16-hour-work-days with virtually zero weekends led me to wonder if I wasn’t thinking enough of the purpose of work. Although I spent two-thirds of every day at work, it never gave me a purpose or a sense of satisfaction. I wasn’t contributing or making an impact on the society. When I was determined about finding a purposeful job, I came across the ‘now or never’ opportunity from BR.

My journey with BR Specialities started in the year 2017, in the Finance & Operations Department. I knew I had big shoes to fill, but all you need is a little bit of extra determination and support that makes the challenges interesting. With the challenges, came the chance to express, opportunity to experiment, and a possibility to understand the power of making mistakes.

We, together aim to be the most preferred and innovative chemical solutions provider that delivers incremental value to all its stakeholders globally, with sustainability at its core. I try to work towards this goal everyday through various avenues.

In the past two years, I have witnessed various milestones with my team. Giving opportunity to fresh talent, focussing on encouraging women employees from diverse backgrounds in the organisation, introducing training sessions for the skill development of the BRiskers, entering into collaborations with recognised R&D colleges and CROs for the purpose of innovation and R&D for a better future, and connecting with people globally through exhibitions are just a few to name.

BR, as a workplace is different. It is one of the very few companies that give equal opportunities for women. It’s open and positive work culture allowed me to rise to Management position in just 2 years of joining. Also, there could be no other company that offers a harmonious work-life balance. BR gives utmost importance to employees’ mental health as well.

It’s been a little more than just two years and I already stand here as a confident and happy leader who is no slave at work, with no fear of failure and a purpose to contribute towards the society with chemical solutions. I can never thank BR enough for this opportunity.
